Dubai: Looking Forward

Expo 2020 in Dubai will be the first of its kind to be held in the MEASA (Middle East, Africa and South Asia) region, which consists of 72 countries and 2.8 billion people

Expo organizers aim to make it the most inclusive world exhibition of all time, inviting people and organizations of diverse backgrounds to take part. The theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” reflects the importance in today’s world of extreme connectedness to work together towards architectural, technological and scientific innovation.

From October 20, 2020 until April 10, 2021, the Expo site will cover 4.38 square kilometers including a 200 hectare gated area located in the Dubai South District adjacent to Al Maktoum International Airport.

A competition between 13 of the world’s leading architecture firms, launched by Emaar Properties, sought to identify the designs for three themed Expo pavilions. The winners selected to design the Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability pavilions are Copenhagen and New York based BIG for the Opportunity Pavilion, internationally renowned London based Foster + Partners for the Mobility Pavilion and Grimshaw Architects with offices in New York, London, Doha, Melbourne and Sydney for the Mobility Pavilion.
