“Percorsi in ceramica” TAMassociati

TAMassociati’s work analysed through some of the projects carried out for Emergency in collaboration with Casalgrande Padana

The works of TAMassociati hold a special place amongst some of the most significant work and collaboration experiences that Casalgrande Padana has carried out alongside major architecture studios.

It is a partnership that has been consolidated over the years, based on a continuous and reciprocal commitment to projects that serve the common good. Since their first encounter in 2011 for the 2x2x2 sulle vie del Sud installation at the Ceramics of Italy. Metamorfosi exhibition, held at the prestigious Milan Triennale design museum, Casalgrande Padana and TAMassociati have worked on important projects for Emergency’s hospitals in Goderich (Sierra Leone), Khartoum (Sudan), Bangui (Central African Republic), and Nyala (South Darfur). In this issue of Percorsi in Ceramica, we’ll walk you through these influential architectural projects to show you the unique way in which TAMassociati operates. Their work combines social values and scientific expertise to give an ethical response to unanimously shared aspirations for sustainability and respect for the environment. This can be seen in the design, the construction process, and the appropriate use of the little technical and financial resources available to them, without ever giving up on architecture and turning it into a tool that improves the quality of even the most difficult situations of everyday life.

It’s with this vision in mind that TAMassociati set up the Italian Pavilion “Taking Care - Progettare per il bene commune” (Taking Care - Designing for the common good) at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, which was also sponsored by Casalgrande Padana.

The second part of the magazine is dedicated to a number of important events.

Milan’s new Creative Centre - which was recently inaugurated in the heart of the Brera Design District - has started its own cultural promotion activities for architects with two series of events, created in collaboration with the cultural education organisation CASABELLA Formazione, and dedicated to some of the main players on the international architecture scene.

Casalgrande Padana’s Old House, restored by Kengo Kuma, won the 2016 Brand&Landscape Award, while the Earth collection by Pininfarina took the German Design Award. The Marseilles Docks - designed by 5+1AA Alfonso Femia, Gianluca Peluffo, who had already won the 2013-2015 Grand Prix - have won three prestigious international awards: the MAPIC Award, the MIPIM Award, and the FX International Interior Design Award, where Casalgrande Padana’s Diamante range won the prize for the best surface product.
