Muuuz Awards 2017 Earth steals the show

The innovative tile system designed by Pininfarina in partnership with Casalgrande Padana has been honoured with the prestigious international award

Now in its fifth edition, the Muuuz International Awards are organised by the ArchiDesignClub network in partnership with the Muuuz web magazine (which has something in the region of 110,000 subscribers) and D’A magazine. The aim of the initiative is to identify and showcase the most creative and innovative products in the global architecture and interior design sectors. To give you an idea of the scale of the awards, the last edition examined over 2500 products from 15 countries, no less.

It is this context that makes us understand the true significance of the award given to Earth by Pininfarina. The originality of the product lies in the highly versatile system, which allows the user to combine the ceramic tiles with a series of high-impact decorative elements reminiscent of streamline cars.

The porcelain stoneware ceramic tiles have a unique and sophisticated surface texture which generates a potent, multi-sensory effect. To look at, the surfaces appear warm and subtle, yet the innovative, micro-3D shines through when you touch them. Vital to achieving this end result was the in-depth research conducted into the colour palette, and it is this – combined with the fact the tiles are available in both small and large formats – that opens up a world of creative possibilities in any setting.

The official awards ceremony took place in the elegant InterContinental Paris Le Grand - Opéra on 1 June.
