Hotel Hemera - Podgorica, Montenegro

Project by Cini&Nils

The Tenso cable-mounted system by Cini&Nils was chosen for the exclusive Hotel Hemera, illustrating one original way of solving lighting challenges in interiors with unusual ceilings.

The Hemera is a tastefully-designed boutique hotel, whose visual identity conveys a rustic-industrial atmosphere combined with hi-tech elements.

The Hemera Hotel needed a lighting system suitably designed to be capable of calling attention to the hotel’s architectural style, while guaranteeing visual comfort in its interiors, by focusing due attention on details and managing light as one of the essential elements that make guests feel at their ease.

The structure’s ceilings were designed in Barrisol, a reflective canvas with a mirror effect that generates an elegant, unusual style. Uncompromisingly modern in taste, this material had to be partnered by a lighting system capable of making the most of the ceiling’s reflecting potential, leaving it unencumbered by ceiling roses and suspended fittings. The Baroque flavour of the furnishings also called for an extremely clean, elegant, unfussy aesthetic line that would underline the contrast between rustic and hi-tech that the hotel’s atmosphere was intended to convey.

The only viable option for such a job was the Tenso system, the world’s first high-voltage cable-mounted system, launched by Cini&Nils in 1994.

Its design enables the Tenso system to blend harmoniously into the architecture. Using the TensoClic feature, the light fittings can be detached from the cable and reattached easily, in perfect compliance with European standards.

To cater for the market’s different needs, Cini&Nils has two versions of its Tenso system available: one is the standard, with a 28 cm gap between the parallel cables, while the other, the miniTenso, has a smaller gap of only 15 cm. The miniTensoFari is the version identified by Cini&Nils as the best solution for lighting the hotel’s interiors, since it offers the best performance in both technical terms and aesthetics.

Altogether, the Hemera project called for 12 miniTensoFari spans comprising 62 luminaires fitted with 5.5W, 2,700K, class A+ LED bulbs.

Custom-designed for hospitality, Cini&Nils takes special care to create the desired atmosphere with its lighting system, as light is the vital element in ensuring that guests benefit from the feel-good factor.

Cini&Nils was established in 1969 and enjoys international recognition for its design, its production Made in Italy, its research and the care it pays to every detail. The aims that Cini&Nils sets itself today are focused on producing lighting design using nothing but LED technology, both for its decorative lighting and for its architectural ranges, such as Tenso, and expanding towards new international and contract markets.
