SHELLON island design Setsu & Shinobu Ito

Preview Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2018

The new project presented by designers Setsu and Shinobu Ito, Shellon island, is a central sofa that can be freely composed to seat maximum four persons.

Inspiration for Shellon comes from the graceful structure of the lotus flower, an Oriental symbol of purity of body and soul; it encapsulates the idea of an element moving freely through its natural environment. It expresses the concept of extremely relaxing seating, where one is cocooned in a living organism.

The sofa features irregular, vertical weave and folds developing over the backrest to create an uncluttered, minimal image.

The base is in brushed steel or matt bronze metal. Available with removable upholstery in fabric and leather with vertical quilting.

This new island is an addition to the extensive Shellon collection, which includes the Shellon bed, where a sensation of grace is created by the inner inclination of the bed frame raised from the floor, and the sinuous outer curves of the centre of the headboard, which also give a three-dimensional effect. The collection also includes the Shellon In bed, whose soft, sinuous headboard featuring irregular quilted folds unites with a floor-standing bed frame, which may also house a convenient storage unit.
