A modern, versatile sofa that integrates perfectly with ‘historic’ ambiences like this recently renovated centuries-old residence
Ancient meets Modern in the Hortus residence, a 16th century villa at Modica, the subject of an extensive renovation project by the Anime a Sud Studio, involving Gruppo Euromobil with Glow-in by Désirée, an oversize sofa designed by Marc Sadler.
Situated in the historic town centre of Modica, next to St. George’s cathedral, Hortus is an evocative dwelling with a Mediterranean garden going back to the 16th century. It has recently been renovated as elite tourist accommodation. The interior is organised around the original layout, and comprises three 3-bedroomed suites, a lounge, a large kitchen with island, a wine cellar located in an ancient water tank excavated in the rock and on the top floor a balcony that ideally projects the structure outdoors.
Glow-in sofas by Désirée, with their large, softly contoured feather filled seats, were chosen for this important project. Glow-in can mutate to provide different compositions by inserting islands, chaise longue elements, and central and side pieces, with or without armrests. It is a timeless interior décor item, revisited to fit ideally into even the most classical of ambiences.
Yet again interior décor solutions by Désirée prove flexible and original and fit perfectly into an historic context, where they exalt the beauty and charm of the past without forgoing the practicality and design of modern times.
