During the first edition of ME, a novelty of “Fuorisalone 2018”, together with other Italian companies, recreated the scenery of a workshop showing to the public what they mean by handmade production.

In the course of the evenings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday (20th, 21st and 22nd April) the public was able to participate in an exciting live-show observing the meticulous work of Renato who has worked as upholsterer inside the company for many years.

During the 3 days the artisan completed the armchair which was then donated to the Italian comic actor Stefano Chiodaroli, who has shown interest from the beginning for this armchair handmade totally in Italy. The purpose of this performance was to reveal our production background and to show all the phases of the making of a Santambrogio handmade armchair.

This armchair has a classic bergère structure, which is a timeless classic.

Starting from the solid wood structure Renato made some jute strips and positioned some steel springs to give support and elasticity to the seating: every spring has been fixed to a twine net which is then nailed to the structure.

After having made the polyurethane filling, the artisan upholsters the chair using a leather which has previously been cut, positioned and sewed.

We have been making our handcrafted armchairs for over 50 years putting the same attention in every detail and being involved in every aspect of the production from the making of the structure to the covering.
