Golden Sands Laundry, the laundry of the future in the Middle East

Through Newmatic and the Middle East subsidiary, Girbau has renovated a laundry which now processes linen from Dubai's most prestigious hotels

The Golden Sands Laundry in Dubai (UAE), fitted out by Girbau, is an excellent example of the way laundries are going. Apart from its over 14,700 m2 of spacious, impeccably tidy premises, it stands out for the level of technology and automation on show, from when linen comes in to when it leaves.

Thus, Golden Sands opts for differentiation in quality and personalisation, plus maximum productivity and profitability. All with a firm commitment to technology and automation, and the smallest possible impact on the environment.

Through Newmatic and the Middle East subsidiary, Girbau has turned a business set up in 1996 into a fully-renovated new laundry with 5 full production lines which now processes linen from Dubai's most prestigious hotels.

Maximum productivity and profitability with a high level of automation

The figures for Golden Sands show its high capacity for processing linen, with 310,000 items washed a day, 200 deliveries and collections a day and a maximum throughput of up to 150 tonnes a day, while ensuring a 30% increase in the life of the linen (thanks to careful treatment by Girbau machines).

At Golden Sands, practically all the processes are automated from when the linen comes in to when it is collected. There are only 3 points where manual tasks performed by operators intervene. The high degree of automation of the process has enabled Golden Sands to increase its productivity and profitability rates dramatically, as well as ensuring full traceability and control in every one of the processes through which its clients' linen passes.

Efficiency and reduction of the carbon footprint: minimum consumption of water and gas for heating

Another important feature is the striking reduction in environmental impact. With the new Girbau machinery, water consumption has been cut drastically and is now between 4 and 5 litres per kg of linen, depending on the washing process.

In Dubai water is a fundamental issue and Golden Sands was determined to work with a manufacturer who could guarantee minimum use of water as a resource. Moreover, the machines are equipped with gas heating, with an exclusive system designed by Girbau to offer performances that achieve maximum efficiency.
