As a general contractor, the Baltimore-based Commercial Group specialises in property development and construction management. As it was looking to optimise its new conference room both acoustically and visually, the company ultimately decided to go with the SILENTMESH acoustic ceiling system made of metal mesh from GKD – GEBR. KUFFERATH AG. The shimmering "Atlantic" metallic ceiling solution underlines the purist atmosphere, while also establishing room-based acoustic comfort.
The Commercial Group constructs entertainment and convention facilities, as well as sports and educational venues both domestically and overseas. To plan these major projects with its customers, the company designed a flagship conference room with exemplary functionality and aesthetics. In GKD, it found a solution partner whose custom ceiling system met with its exacting stipulations. Alongside the low maintenance costs and virtually unlimited useful life of the stainless steel mesh ceiling, the ease with which the system can be revised was the key for the Commercial Group. Lights integrated into the ceiling elements provide balanced brightness and create targeted lighting accents in the woven structure. As a full-service provider, GKD-USA also installed the twelve panels, covering a total of 65 square metres. The panels were attached to the ceiling of the conference room using clips. This fixing system offers a key advantage, as the panels are quick and easy to remove if necessary. As a special feature, the elements were given 2 cm upstands on all four sides to create a highly homogeneous joint pattern.
