THERMAL PERFORMANCE : PLYWOOD PANEL HAS BECOME A MAJOR PLAYER IN ENERGY SAVINGS

Summer comfort, low consumption building, energy-plus-house... Thermal performance as well as saving energy are nowadays in the heart of the challenges faced by the building designers and the members of the construction industry.

Plywood panels are wood materials that positively contribute to thermal performances of buildings. As it has a lower density (between 400 and 550 kg/m³), the lightness of Okoume and Poplar plywood enables it to display low values of thermal conductivity that are more favourable for building insulation.

Even if plywood can't be qualified as insulating material, its thermal conductivity is nevertheless 2 to 3 times lower than plaster, and 10 to 15 times lower than solid concrete.*

Combined with other insulating materials like polystyrene, plywood panels can be used for wall covering, cladding or for other structural applications where it demonstrates its multiple qualities in regards to the requirements needed for making more energy efficient sustainable buildings.

Joubert plywood being produced in a circular economy, also counts among the most energy efficient material whilst ensuring the highest environmental and health qualities.
