Bathroom fit for a Queen

Hever Castle

Hever Castle sets the benchmark for the perfect British Imperial bathroom!

Dating back to the 13th century, Hever Castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and Mother of Elizabeth I. It formed the unlikely backdrop to a sequence of tumultuous events that changed the course of Britain's history, monarchy and religion.

Its panelled rooms house fine furniture, tapestries, antiques and what is regarded as 'one of the best collections of Tudor portraits after the National Portrait Gallery' by David Starkey.

Today, much of what you see is the result of the remarkable efforts of William Waldorf Astor, who used his fortune to restore and extend the Castle in the early 20th century. The Astor Suite is dedicated to its more recent history, showcasing pictures and memorabilia relating to the Astor family and the Edwardian period.

Interiors at Nine to Eleven director Sarah Clark had the privilege of renovating parts of Hever Castle and we were delighted that she chose British Bathroom Manufacturer Imperial for her bathroom renovations using local retailer, Northallerton Tiles and Bathrooms.

The rooms were originally done to a very high standard in the early 1900s and were converted to more bedrooms with en-suites in the 1980s. Very little work has taken place since the 1980s and Sarah has done an excellent job bringing these rooms back up to the opulence and standard one would expect of a castle like Hever.

Wanting to use state of the art English potteries, Imperial was a classic choice for the en suite designs using products such as the Westminster back to wall pan, our classic basin stands, wall hung radiators and our cast iron baths. Our traditional high level toilets were also installed near the function rooms and for a more modern twist, our basins with semi pedestals were used for the more contemporary renovations.

Imperial Bathrooms continues to be one of the top choices for British renovations and has a large portfolio of hotel projects throughout the world.
