LAMINAM FOR THE VENTILATED FAÇADE OF THE FLUXMANS BUILDING IN JOHANNESBURG

2014 Fluxmans Building Johannesburg/ South Africa Design: Paragon Architects Collection Bianco Lucidato 1000x3000 mm

Taking its place among Laminam’s most prestigious creations is the ventilated façade of the 10,000 m² Fluxmans Building with design by Paragon Architects and hosting distinguished commercial spaces in the Rosebank suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. The envelope is characterised by expanses of glass that show of a spectacular visual lined entirely with LAMINAM 1000×3000×3 mm porcelain stoneware slabs in White with Lucidato finish from the Collection series.

Given the complexities of the environment, arising from the height (1750 metres) of the plateau on which Johannesburg stands together with the subtropical climate featuring temperatures from 25 degrees on average in the summer to the 4-degree minimums of winter, the façade’s mitigation of radiation and heat loads represents a strategic element for ensuring comfort and energy efficiency.

In these conditions, the White colour of the façade in porcelain stoneware, teamed with high-performance glazing and curtain wall systems and passive solar shading systems arranged on the building, takes on an entirely functional role since it plays a decisive role in managing heat loads.

Laminam ceramic slab properties:

• Resistant to scratches and deep abrasion

• Resistant to mildew and fungi

• Resistant to stains

• Resistant to chemicals

• Resistant to UV rays

• Intrinsic hygienic quality

• Low maintenance and easy cleaning
