Macalloy Compression Struts
Göztepe Football Stadium in Izmir, Turkey, due to be completed this year, is a multi-purpose venue that will seat 20,000 people. The ground floor will have parking, eating and drinking areas, shops, and a sports museum, while the football field will be on the first floor.
Nearly 200 Adjustable Compression Struts (Carbon) in sizes between M85-M120 in lengths of up to 10m have been used. The struts were used to support both tension, and compression loads, as well as factors built in for seismic loading. We designed and manufactured an M120 fork and its associated components specifically for this project to support tension loads of over 535 tons and compressive loads of over 335 tons. We also manufactured a bespoke compression strut body to account for a particularly short length for the size. Almost 200 tons were supplied in total.
