Elica, a “Compasso d’Oro” with a new look!

At Maison&Objet the new shiny black version of Elica lamp

Elica is one of the most innovative lamps ever produced by Martinelli Luce. On occasion of its tenth anniversary, the lamp, designed in 2009 by a young Brian Sironi, Elica is previewing at Maison&Objet in a shiny black version that exalts its presence.

The company which ten years ago believed in Brian Sironi and his Elica lamp is Martinelli Luce, one of the manufacturers who have most heavily contributed to making the name of Italian design in the world, a company which has always believed in facing design challenges head on.

In 2011, Elica won the Compasso d’Oro award assigned by ADI – but that’s not all. Elica has collected a wealth of prizes which have confirmed the creativity and validity of the project: the Red Dot Design Award 2011, honorable mention at the I.D. Annual Design Review 2010, the nomination for the German Designpreis 2011, the iF GOLD Award 2010, the Good Design Award 2010 and the “Design dello Stupore” award at Young&Design 2009.

Elica is a table lamp with a swivel arm and pure and essential design that expresses all its outstanding functionality. None of Elica’s “mechanisms” are visible, nor does Elica possess a switch: a turn of the arm and . . . there is light! A simple, immediate gesture, natural for the user.
