Standing seam system NedZink NOIR

Trendy home in NedZink NOIR

“It needs a little more zinc.” According to George Westgeest, Director at zinc master Elshof Metaaldak in Olst, you’ll regularly hear this phrase uttered in the construction industry. That’s why he’s happy when there is enough time to pay the necessary attention to putting zinc on a roof or façade. “Because this can only benefit the quality and aesthetics,” he emphasises. He was given all the space and time he needed to achieve a stellar result for this trendy home situated on the edge of a pond in the rural Roelofarendsveen: a harmonious dance of lines in the vertical red cedar panels, sleek strips of NedZink NOIR, anthracite-hued bricks, white stuccoed walls, and dark window and door frames. Together with architectural firm ENZO Architectuur & Interieur in Burgerveen, Elshof opted for the dark NedZink NOIR as façade and roof cladding in a vertical seam system. Director Westgeest: “With the exception of the ends, this newly built home was completely clad in NedZink NOIR. We also clad the steel roofing contours in zinc. This meant that the constructed weight was reduced. We profile the seam bays ourselves and do the flashing by hand. This means that we can evenly distribute the areas and everything is precisely in proportion. Thanks to good communication and perfect preparation, all of the parties involved were incredibly pleased with the beautiful finished result.”
