SEON GHI BAHK’S FICTION OF THE FABRICATED IMAGE

The Korean artist's latest body of work presented in Miami

Adding to his body of work titled An Aggregation, Seoul-based artist Seon Ghi Bahk is currently presenting his latest installations at the Zadok Gallery in Miami.

Known for his delicate charcoal installations, Bahk hangs the substance from nylon threads to create concrete and abstract shapes that simultaneously seem to be crumbling, floating and flying away. More specifically, his work explores the relationship between humans and nature. By representing typically man-made architectural forms with natural charcoal, Bahk asks us to consider nature as a vital part of civilization rather than simply as the setting for its development.

The charcoal columns seem fragile and decaying rather than strong, highlighting the frailty of humans in the face of nature. Our quest to control nature is only an illusion. In fact, our development is purely impossible without her.

Fiction of the Fabricated Image will be on display at the Zadok Gallery until August 25th.
