MILAN 2015: PATRICIA URQUIOLA’S SHIMMER COLLECTION FOR GLAS ITALIA

Multichromatic glass furniture from the Spanish designer at the Salone del Mobile

Even those not convinced by the merits of glass furniture might find something to love in Patricia Urquiola’s Shimmer collection for Glas Italia. Laminated glass is glued together to form tables, shelves and consoles that are coated in an iridescent multichromatic finish that turns each piece into a visual feast. Much like a soap bubble in sunlight, the elements are constantly changing in hue, depth and transparency depending on the lighting and the angle from which they are viewed. The colorful forms also cast cathedral-esque reflections that shift and change throughout the day.

The collection also includes a mirror that combines the multichromatic finish with a two-color geometric decoration that create stunning gradients of color. The mirror is available in three different sizes.

The furniture is also available in multiple sizes with opaque or transparent glass as well as transparent glass with a micro-dot design.
