DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: FORM US WITH LOVE
A Swedish design studio with a global view
Stockholm-based design studio Form Us With Love was formed in 2005 by three former product design students at Kalmar University. FUWL could be defined by its refusal to view design through a microscope. Founding trio John Löfgren, Jonas Pettersson, and Petrus Palmér insist on examining design as an entire process, from the idea’s conception to its (mass) production. In fact, they attribute their exceptional focus on a strong vision. “Design is very much about compromise when you’re working with different clients, but our philisophy is not something on which we have been compromising,” Jonas Petterson shares.
It is indeed perhaps thanks to their remarkably global approach that the studio’s success has kept its upward arc. In 2013 alone, FUWL was named Designer of the Year by ELLE Decoration Sweden as well as receiving several product awards, including a Wallpaper* Award for their Silestone Slab Vases.
Since the studio’s inception, FUWL has already collaborated with the likes of Muuto, Bolon, Cappellini, DePadova, One Nordic Furniture Company and more. Their work ranges from creative space design to functional products, and they have recently launched their own design manufacturing endeavor, BAUX.
To top it all off, FUWL kicked off 2014 with an IF Product Design Award for their Hood Lamp, a sound absorbing modular system with light designed with ateljé Lyktan. It’s probably safe to say that we can continue to expect big things from FWUL.
