fernando mastrangelo presents sand + cement bench at art genève

fernando mastrangelo‘s drift bench is part of his ‘FMS’ collection, which blurs the line between fine art and furniture design.

the bench is made from sand and cement which creates a rugged yet refined surface. the brooklyn-based creative uses organic materials such as glass, salt, sugar, sand, and quartz, to create sculptural pieces that combines his minimalist aesthetic with high quality craftsmanship. the motivation behind mastrangelo’s work is to challenge our experience towards everyday objects, presenting itself as formal and functional through the use of commonplace materials. the collection can be used indoors and outdoors, with the colour and texture of the furniture blending harmoniously with nature, whilst acting as a stark sculptural object when used indoors. mastrangelo’s work is being presented by james gallery at art genève from january 28-31, 2016.
