Re-ainbow is a colorful center for a climate change impacted community in Vietnam

Re-ainbow is a multifunctional pavilion for the community of Duc Tho in Vietnam.

Duc Tho is part of the Ha Tinh province, an area prone to the effects of climate change and natural disaster. This new structure will provide the grounds for a health station, public restrooms and ancillary areas, and will feature a classroom, art performance theater, community meeting place, sports fitness center, and refreshment tent. Movable partition walls can be adapted to the changing needs of the unique structure, which will allow it to serve multiple functions. Areas for sports and recreation including volleyball, badminton, and long jump surround the structure.

The project aims to improve the community’s ability to adapt and respond to the effects of climate change and incorporates both recycled material and energy efficient features. The structure utilizes a variety of old or broken construction material including scaffolding steel pipes, sheet metals, and bricks. Re-ainbow also employs Solar energy for lighting and water heating while rain water and used water is collected and reused. An emphasis is placed on natural ventilation and natural lighting.
