Domus at Salone

Five architectural pavilions designed by ten internationally renowned artists and architects were presented on April 12th, during the official launch of the project Arch and Art, at Triennale Gardens, alongside the project Tribute to Domus by Fabrica. #MDW2016

The Triennale was heart of an event where Giovanna Mazzocchi, Nicola Di Battista and the protagonists of Arch and Art illustrated the genesis of a project that participates to the XXI International Triennale.

“Promoting and developing the territory means making companies more competitive. Italy must count on its artistic and cultural heritage to relaunch its image on an international level and attract investments. Through the Arch and Art project, contained within the Far Volare Milano Strategic Plan, Assolombarda is helping to put Milan at the centre: a place of vision and innovation, a crossroads of knowledge and expertise. Milan is a cutting-edge laboratory that, together with companies, can give a fresh boost to the cultural economy and the country’s growth”, asserts Maria Giovanna Mazzocchi, a member of the Executive Board of Assolombarda Confindustria Milano Monza e Brianza appointed to Company Culture and Domus editor.

After the presentation of Arch and Art, some protagonists of this project toured the visitors through their work: Chipperfield, Kollhoff, Venezia, Pistoletto, Kounellis dedicated to an informal and intense narration of the Arch and Art project at the Triennale gardens.

Sam Baron, creative director of Fabrica, and Donatella Bollani, deputy editor of Domus magazine, presented Tribute to Domus: to celebrate the magazine’s 1000 issue, 17 companies customised a successful design from their collection with the 2016 Pantone colour of the year. The display, designed by Fabrica, shows the pieces in the ten shop-windows of the United Colors of Benetton flagship store in Piazza del Duomo, during Milan’s Design Week. This special tribute also features the exceptional involvement of Citroën as the main project partner and, for this car manufacturer, the architect Mario Bellini has designed a new Cactus Chair in 3D moulded plastic, inspired by the design of the Citroën C4 Cactus and its Airbumps®.
