situated in the southwest corner of a building in ho chi minh city, this two-bedroom apartment has been designed by ad+ studio and comprises a total area of 84 square meters.
previously occupied and used as an office, the property was left in poor conditions, as well as an arrangement plan that created several problems when it had to be repurposed.
the refurbishment method applied by ad+ studio was to move the culinary area close to the living room which has been arranged symmetrically through the center axis; the old kitchen was transformed into a multi-function space with a storage beneath while a private bathroom was added to the master bedroom. the second bedroom’s door had its direction changed in order to surmount the room crossing disadvantage by opening a direct passage towards the laundry balcony and thus generating new natural ventilation systems.
thanks to the narrow hall, the common space now has more views to the balcony and towards the outside, making the space become bigger and airy. the apartment was conceived for the architect’s sister, aiming to bring back memories of when they were kids, playing together in the colorful garden.
