belzberg architects transforms gores group HQ in beverly hills with blue glass panels

this renovation project by belzberg architects transformed an existing three-story office building in california into a dynamic workplace for a global private equity firm.

located in beverly hills, the project sought to use architecture to fundamentally change the way employees interact with both one another, and their surroundings.commissioned by the gores group, belzberg architects began by investigating potential façade solutions. the design team developed a new glazing system while working closely with multiple fabricators to refine the design, production, and installation prior to construction. each 4’x 8’ panel comprises two slumped glass panes with a printed PVB interlayer that is pressure-sealed.

the printed pattern, which accentuates the slump, filters views, provides privacy, and improves the provision of natural light. furthermore, the thickness of the panels reduces sound and vibration from the busy street. although there are only eight unique patterns, the configuration does not repeat itself. because of the curvature, the appearance of the glass changes throughout the day, giving the façade a distinct character.

a new atrium has been positioned at the center of the existing 135,000 square foot building, increasing the natural light and ventilation reaching each floor. the area now includes a feature staircase that encourages employees to meet for impromptu conversations. above, a large rooftop terrace and garden has been created, establishing a healthier working environment.
