‘maison 0.82’ draws cues from modernist architecture reminiscent of mies van der rohe. in this case, it is demonstrated by the sharp geometric lines, horizontal planes, flat roof and material expression, all of which aiming to connect the building with the surrounding garden landscape. the design uses a traditional rectangular structure, and strategically placed windows that provides a naturally-lit environment inside.

located in the south of france in nîmes, the family home is designed by locally based firm pascual architecte. the concept of horizontality is explored throughout the structure, meanwhile a constant connection between inside and outside is achieved by the use of floor-to-ceiling fenestrations in the living room. the entire building sits on a slightly raised platform that combines the internal dwelling and patio. the living room spills onto this terrace space that provides an outdoor area for dining and entertaining sitting below a flat roof featuring a single circular cut out that serves as an intense light shaft.

the living program is arranged across one open-plan level which faces onto the pool and the garden outside. a muted color and material palette is continued inside maison 0.82, while the addition of wood is implemented to inject warmth into the light-filled space which ultimately, culminates into an inviting and contemporary home for the family residing.
