10 Innovative, eye-opening products from Designjunction EDIT NYC

Designjunction curates a series of must-see shows in the European design circuit - and they just landed Stateside with their very first event for New York Design Week.

Designjunction EDIT NYC is a tightly curated exhibition of innovative modern designs from across the US and around the world - check out some of our favorite green finds after the break!

Brave Space Design showcased their new line of Acute Stools, which are made from smoothly beveled lengths of sustainably sourced bamboo. Each stool’s seat is composed of three pieces of wood set in a triangular pattern, and they stand on three legs made from epoxy painted steel.

Hypetex unveiled the world’s first red carbon fiber chair at Designjunction Edit. The company has come up with a novel process for producing carbon fiber in a rainbow of colors, and they partnered with Michael Sodeau to develop a chair that showcases the material’s amazing strength and lightness.

Muuto‘s massive Under the Bell pendant lamp measures 32 inches across, and it’s made entirely from recycled PET plastic felt. The soft material absorbs noise, which lends a cozy, intimate ambience to living or dining rooms.

Native Union knows that it’s hard to keep your phone charged when you’re on the go – so they’ve developed a line of accessories that ensure you’ll never be stuck with a dead battery. The Key Cable is a chic USB charging cord you’ll always have on hand, and the Jump Cable is a lightweight battery pack that boosts discharged phones back up to 30%.

Native Union has also launched a line of iPhone cases made from natural materials – including sustainable American wood and real marble.

Rosie Li‘s Stella Hexagon is a dazzling diamond of LED light. The faceted sconce features inset mirrors that reflect geometric forms ad infinitum.

Stephen Johnson brings a bit of fun into the living room with his colorful Play Table, which looks like it’s made from Play-Doh! The table is handmade from synthetic clay, and if you flip it over you can see the designer’s fingerprints.

Cyclists rejoice – Sahn has developed a line of understated helmets you’d actually want to wear. The Vancouver-based company’s helmets are streamlined, functional, and available in a great range of colors and finishes to suit your taste. (We love the pistachio green.)

Los Angeles-based artist and designer Torbjörn Vejvi‘s gorgeous pendant lamps are handcrafted from solid blocks of maple. Vejvi turns his lamps on a lathe and paints them as they spin, producing subtle gradients and bold blocks of color.

Wrk-Shp‘s Hanging Vessels are made from a special type of high-strength, lightweight concrete. Each planter is made of two halves that can be combined into a single unit or separated and hung flat against the wall.
