BEAUBIEN IS A SCULPTURAL LIGHT INSPIRED BY TRADITIONAL CHINESE SCREENS

An adaptable lamp from Montreal-based design studio Lambert & Fils

At this year’s ICFF, Lambert & Fils presented a brand new light that reinterprets decorative Chinese screens. Beaubien is at once a wall lamp, floor lamp and pendant light but more closely resembles a sculpture with angular lines traced in black matte. Made from powder coated steel, aluminum and brass, the design makes at once reference to the geometric forms of Modernism and to the divisive kitsch of the Memphis Group which was founded by Ettore Sottsass in the 1980’s.
