An outdoor chair inspired by the portable pieces made for tours of the British Empire
Glen Baghurst is an Australian designer that has one foot in his homeland and one foot in Sweden. Having worked extensively with renowned Swedish designer Mats Theselius, Baghurst recently launched his first collection of products at the Stockholm Furniture Fair’s Greenhouse.
Currently untitled, the collection consists of an armchair, floor tiles and an outdoor events chair. The outdoor events chair is inspired by British campaign furniture that was used during tours of the British Empire. Campaign furniture was specifically designed to be easily broken down or folded for travel. Thus, the ultra-portable, modern version folds in half for simple transportation.
The chair is made from leather stretched upon a powder coated steel frame. It is low enough to allow spectators to sit without blocking those behind them, making it the perfect accessory for outdoor entertainment. And it definitely beats the plastic alternatives by a mile! We approve.
