COPPER MONO-LIGHT BY OS & OOS

A surprisingly flexible lighting installation designed for Galerie Gosserez

OS & OOS is a Dutch design studio established in 2011 by former Design Academy Eindhoven classmates Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen. The design duo skillfully walks the delicate tightrope between design and art, form and function, creating objects that often have unexpected shapes and forms but a clear purpose.

Most recently, the Parisian Galerie Gosserez commissioned a copper version of the studio’s Mono-Light. The large-scale installation adopts the somewhat retro, very industrial aesthetic of fluorescent tube lights, but replaces the high-energy bulb with low-energy LED technology. Copper joints bridge the space between the bulbs and create the structure for the installation.

Deceptively rigid in appearance, the lighting installation is actually flexible. The copper tubes can be twisted and turned in any direction, which means that the lights can be used on the floor, the wall or the ceiling. Indeed, the Mono-Light was born out of a demand for interactive, multi-functional products that can adapt to any space or situation.

The Copper Mono-Light was displayed during PAD London, but custom versions of the Mono-Light can be designed for individual demands.
