Anny Wang creates a moving furniture collection through contrast
As the old adage goes, opposites attract, which is something that designer Anny Wang has neatly illustrated with her new furniture collection, Akin. Comprised of three complementary pieces, Wang plays with contrasts and movement without compromising functionality.
The Float shelving unit is a self-supported and open structure not bound to walls as are conventional shelves; a steel tubular frame and blue powder coated shelves form neat rows of squares and rectangles.
To contrast the airiness and structure of the shelf, the closed Sway cabinet incorporates panels of undulating chameleon vinyl, relaying a sense of fluid movement through both iridescent coloring and curvaceous form.
Orbit, the final piece, is a side table with removable, circular tray/table top perched upon vertical L shaped table legs—a soft contrast to the rigid, angular features of the other pieces.
