FLOW COLLECTION BY STUDIO JOA HERRENKNECHT

A whimsical new collection of impermanent objects from a Berlin-based designer

We’re not quite halfway through 2014 and Berlin-based designer Joa Herrenknecht is already having an excellent year. Along with being chosen for the D3 Contest for young talent at January’s IMM Cologne, she has been nominated for the prestigious German Design Award and debuted her entirely new FLOW collection at Salone Satellite 2014, which consists of eight new products designed to be light, adaptable and free.

None of the products in the collection are fixed and immobile, rather they integrate clever details that make them versatile. The Sushi Sofa/Daybed comes with modular arm and backrests that can be arranged and switched around using hooks under the mattress.

Although not adjustable like the other members of the collection, the Cosmo wall system is a blank canvas just waiting to be personalized, adorned and rearranged. The perforated metal boards can be used to organize accessories, clothing or anything you want.

Herrenknecht’s collection also includes a set of tableware, a flower vase and a pair of side tables that are out of this world. Together, the eight objects explore how we integrate objects into our increasingly mobile lives by providing increased functionality without neglecting form. And we ask nothing more!
