Hella Jongerius presents her East River Chair at iSaloni

Dutch designer Hella Jongerius gratified us with a smart and beautiful design for iSaloni 2014. Indeed, as we hear her talk about her East River Chair collection for Vitra, we realize this simple and efficient product is the synthesis of several ideas and design concepts that had been trotting through her mind for a while. In fact, this simple chair represents the whole concept of furniture for public spaces and the dynamic it can bring to the place in question. Such attention to the matter is easily understandable as the East River Chair is destined to furnish North Delegates’ Lounge at the United Nations. So, for a chair that is going to be used and moved a lot, the Dutch designer focused on making it solid, lightweight and functional. With a handle on the back and optional wheels, everything has been designed for easy transportation and relocation according to the various needs that might occur in such places. The East River Chair comes in various colors that underline its distinctive form and design while changing the entire effect of the chair. In the end, we get a simple and efficient product that reflects the wise mix of industrial and artisan design of Hella Jongerius.
