SARA & BOB LAMPS BY DAN YEFFET

Dan Yeffet brings us back to basics

Glass is cool. It’s been around for forever, but let’s face it, glass doesn’t age and we still love it. Lately, glass has become trendy again for a reason that matches Israeli designer Dan Yeffet’s philosopy: it’s the perfect link between our modern/computerized era and traditional craftsmanship. For a while now, Yeffet has been reluctant plow ahead, and as many other designers and architects, he has started taking a few steps back. “Back to basics,” as he says.

The Sara and Bob lamps illustrate that statement perfectly. The glass is beautifully shaped and colored. Its form is vaguely reminiscent of the 1970s and adds to the various inspirations of the designer. The volumes are very modern, yet there is something in the lamp’s glow that embodies classic glass craftsmanship. However, the most interesting fact comes from the transparency of the glass, which allows us to see the inner components of the lamp and shows us that there is nothing to hide.
