rock together kiosk proposal by angelo renna and cécile-diama samb

the underlying concept of angelo renna and cécile-diama sambs’ is simple; to bring people together.

‘rock together’, is a temporary structure that incorporates a few base elements that are then left to be used and interpreted however the users feel fit. depending on the season, activities can happen inside or outside the wrinkled concrete form. during summer months it can function as a climbing wall — its principle characteristic — or a gathering point to sunbath around. meanwhile, it’s interior can be used as an observatory or small information kiosk.

when the weather turns cold, which it surely will – ‘rock together’ is proposed to be built in millennium park for the 2015 chicago architecture biennial — it can be used as a micro-exhibition space, indoor climbing wall, or as in the summer, an info point. the international competition held by the chicago park district and city of chicago closed in march of this year; winners have yet to be announced.
