THIS TINY LAMP TURNS OFF WHEN FOLDED SHUT

A multi-functional design that will have bookworms jumping for joy

Italian architect Antonio Virga has officially designed the most perfect lamp for bibliophiles. No more pesky clip-on lamps (except for the one designed by Inga Sempé), we’re already picturing ourselves curled up on a window seat on a rainy day with this little guy by our side. Compact and adaptable, the lamp illuminates when it is folded open and turns off when folded shut. Users are encouraged to interact with the light, adjusting its intensity and height through the simple folding motion. The light can also be easily transported from one location to another and simple turns into a discreet design object when folded away. To top it all off, the lamp is one of nine nominees for the Rado Star Prize, all of which were on display at last week’s NOW! le Off in Paris.
