HAYLEY EICHENBAUM’S PHOTOGRAPHY CAPTURES UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES

A feast of color and shapes from an American photographer

Colorful buildings, dizzying backdrops and fragmentary examinations of ordinary objects are what set photographer Hayley Eichenbaum’s images apart. Her Instagram account brings to life an imaginative color palette complete with birds-eye-views, unexpected juxtapositions and dynamic scenery. In one photograph, which depicts the mixed architectural styles of a blue building, she manages to show us the power of the monochromatic through texture. In another, a lone daytime moon floats above the jutting roof of a modern house, while angles and shadows play tricks and seem to shift before our eyes. Round objects floating upon a pool of water create Escheresque reflections, a cat wanders over a vibrant hill of plaster and debris, and a woman who’s just finished cleaning the floor is spied upon from above. By allowing an almost voyeuristic peek into her surreal universe, Hayley Eichenbaum provides a surprising point of view and makes onlookers see the world much differently than they would have otherwise.
