Vibrant images that embody the hot, sunny days of summertime
After stumbling upon the colorful, sun-bleached photos of self-taught photographer Matthieu Venot, we immediately assumed that the French artist was documenting his sun-kissed beach life somewhere near Marseille, Antibes or Nice. However, it turns out that he is based in Brest! BREST! We have been to Brest, and it evokes neither sun nor color in our collective memories, yet Venot’s photographs are filled with hues worthy of a Pantone catalog.
His ‘Prism’ series sets angular slices of building against impossibly blue skies, clearly referencing the collection’s namesake. The delicate symphony of texture, color and geometry submerges the viewer in an eternal summer of imagined boardwalks and endless beaches. So in the spirit of summer, we invite you to take a plunge into this particular photographer’s work. And for more inspiration, follow him on Instagram.
