HANG OUT IN STYLE WITH THE KODAMA ZOME

The new sort of hanging nest that is designed for summer time lounging

For the northern half of the world, it’s summer time, which means it’s quite frankly too hot to do anything other than hang out, and the Kodama Zome looks like the perfect place for lazing. Somewhere between a daybed, a hammock and a cocoon, the Kodama Zome is a summer escape extraordinaire that can be shared with friends or hogged in selfish glory.

The design fuses inspiration from architect Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic dome and the naturally occuring zonodehral polygon to create the “zome”. The geometric forms are not only structurally ideal, but they are also comfortingly familiar because they are found in nature. Licensed structural engineer Richie Duncan created the design using 3D engineering software, so when suspended, the zome sways gently from side to side in a relaxing (hypnotizing?) pendulum motion.

The Kodama Zome is made from powder coated steel and can be suspended from trees or an optional free-standing structure. The cushions are upholstered in Sunbrella® outdoor canvas upholstery fabric that is available in a range of different colors, but the structure is available with a bunch of interesting options that include custom colors and fabrics. Roll on, summer!
