Recycled Tree, the Christmas Tree by Ilaria Venturini Fendi

A Christmas tree sui generis, a one-of-kind piece

The collaboration between Ilaria Venturini Fendi and Slamp brings to light the Recycled Tree, a Christmas tree sui generis, a one-of-kind piece, handmade by the fashion designer from the scraps of some of Slamp’s most iconic collections. On December 5th, 2017, in Naples’ San Carlo Thea-tre’s Salone dei Specchi, the tree will be sold by the Associazione Sergio Valente, who is sponso-ring the “Il Natale dei 100 Alberi d’autore” initiative; the funds are destined for the Santobono-Pausillipum pediatric institution.

“I took to the idea of using scraps to build a sculptural tree emerging from an illuminated, mirrored base. The final product reflects our consistent use of scraps in our displays, now united with Slamp’s luminous creations,” says the designer.

The youngest of Anna’s five children, Ilaria Venturini Fendi worked for some time as the Creative Director of Fendissime accessories and Shoe Designer Fendi. With the desire to take back her per-sonal life without abandoning the mark of excellent fashion, she combined her love of nature and creativity to open Carmina Campus in 2006. The sustainable fashion line marries luxury practices to company responsibility. Industrial scraps or “trash” are made into eclectic and original design ob-jects through her aesthetic sensibility and desire to “create without destroying”.

The Italian lighting brand Slamp, founded in 1994, and today available in 104 countries throughout the world, bases its approach on the low CO2 emission process of cold-cutting their patented tech-nopolymer sheets. Thanks to hand-assembly, the sheets take on highly decorative three dimensio-nal shapes that go beyond functionality to fill any atmosphere with welcoming warmth.
