SNAIDERO DESIGN PICKED AGAIN AT THE 2017 GOOD-DESIGN AWARDS

Designed for Snaidero by the architect Massimo Iosa Ghini, the Frame project walks away with the prestigious award given by the Museum of Modern Art of Chicago

At Snaidero, design has always been a window onto the future, the pursuit of a form of beauty which is not ephemeral but rather exerts an unequivocal attraction that stands the test of time. A viewpoint shared by the panel of the Good Design Awards of Chicago’s Museum of Modern Art which singled out Snaidero’s Frame kitchen for the 14th time in assigning it this important recognition.

The Good Design Award is one of the most prestigious international awards: it first came into being in 1950 sparked by an idea of Edgar Kaufmann Jr – curator and founder of the Museum of Modern Art of Chicago – and it is bestowed upon the most innovative products of the year in terms of form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, sustainability and aesthetics. It is currently awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and it is also promoted by the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

Designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini for Snaidero, the Frame project is a faultless fusion of all the essential features of a modern kitchen environment: efficiency and inspiration. A neo-chic style which references and updates certain iconic elements of classic design, making them more functional too: the framed door ameliorated with recessed handles, the use of glossy and matte lacquer finishes to subtly bring out the exquisite beauty of the surface tops and the large extractor hood, available in bronze or stainless steel, providing the work area of the kitchen with a stylishly characterful focal point.
