cero wins the ICONIC AWARD Best of Best 2015

One of the world's most renowned architecture prizes, the "ICONIC AWARD", will be given in Munich as part of the Expo Real trade fair on 5th October. Taking to the winner's podium: The company Solarlux, who will be presented with the "Best of the Best" award in the "Façade" product category for its sliding window from relatively new monobrand cero.

ICONIC AWARD Best of Best, the German manufacturer, also known for its folding glass doors and glass extensions, also took home the iF Gold Award back in the spring. What the double win proves: The unique sliding window has caught the attention of both the design world and the architecture world. Solarlux itself refers to cero as the "inside outside", as it highlights the philosophy that has been inspiring Solarlux in the creation of its own glazing solutions for over 30 years: "Our windows and façades connect indoors with outdoors, and allow these to merge together as one. cero was born from this very idea, and takes it to a whole new level", says Stefan Holtgreife, Managing Director at Solarlux.

Function meets aesthetics

The prize is the logical extension of the cero philosophy, as the window also combines high levels of functionality with exceptional aesthetics in practice. cero boasts expansive glass panels and extremely slender frames and sections ‒ a closed window could not feel any more open. Even the edges are kept in the all-glass look, while the threshold-free transitions complement the elegant design, which almost melts away as a result of its own transparency. The most impressive aspects of the cero sliding window are its features: Although cero allows for large-scale window façades of up to 15 square metres, these still appear light and ele-gant as they can be opened and closed easily and quietly, either manually or with a motor. And the transparency can even be seen in the manufacturing, conforming to international environmental management stand-ard ISO 14001, which stipulates continual reduction in environmental impact during production. cero has been certified to RC2 in accordance with the current burglar resistance standards. cero is ready to be introduced onto the international market, as the requirements of different climate zones have also been taken into account in its design with different insulation grades.
