THE MODERN HONOLULU introduces cosmopolitan chic for leisure and business pursuits in Hawaii. Overlooking the marina, sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean and city skyline surround this Honolulu hotel’s guest rooms and suites. Housed in the former Yacht Harbor Tower of Honolulu, the Modern Honolulu reads as intimate, relaxed and ‘un-designed’ but with a sophisticated edge. In keeping with their less is more style, interior designers Yabu Pushelberg opted for a fresh and airy design plan, a refined nod to 1960s Hawaiian nostalgia. Outside, there are two spectacular pool decks. The Sunrise pool, located on the second floor and looking out over the harbor, features Ipe wood decking with an upscale pool bar tucked off to the side. A series of planters have been implemented to create a shaded canopy alongside the pool deck. Botanic teak sunbeds with white cushions from the TRIBÙ, supplier of exclusive outdoor furniture, surround the pool and make for an inviting poolside. One level up is the private Sunset Beach were the round, lagoon-like pool is surrounded by imported sand from neighboring Hawaiian islands sand and palm trees.
