Once again we focus on one of the most private rooms in the home, the bathroom.

Once again we focus on one of the most private rooms in the home, the bathroom.

If anything, compared with other living spaces, even more attention must be paid to this room’s overall design – a place conceived for rest, relaxation, and for indulging ourselves. In other words, it is important to take into account the furniture and its layout, the lighting, accessories and, needless to say, the materials that are used to add a touch of colour and to create our imagined setting.

Architects and interior designers are well aware of how important light and materials are in home design, helping to create settings that reflect their user’s personalities. Whether the emphasis is on a classical, minimalist or more avant-garde look, they always seek out easily adaptable modular materials that can be put to optimum use, while also ensuring that they are easy to fit or lay, long lasting and environmentally friendly.

At the same time, constant new developments are being made in ceramic tile technology to make all these things possible. Thanks to ongoing efforts, a new generation of large-format lightweight XLIGHT porcelain sheets has been developed, made with a high percentage of recycled materials, for use on residential walls and floors. These innovative sheets are manufactured using a continuous press and glaze-free decorative system, based on the CICLIK concept whereby recycled material is integrated in the production process.

The new collection, CRAFT, is the result of an eco-efficient production system based on the CICLIK philosophy, with only minimal environmental impacts. Its unique design unites tradition with avant-garde aesthetics and the resistance of porcelain tile materials.

CRAFT’s industrial-effect cement background has been combined with the warmth of stucco plaster to create a unique texture that stands out for its depth and luminosity. The resulting 12m2 sheets are full of subtle nuances and overlapping layers, giving them a rich chromatic beauty.

The collection was one of the highlights of PORCELANOSA Grupo’s 24th International Global Architecture and Interior Design Exhibition, since it brings a continuous appearance to surfaces, with minimum joints between the sheets.

As for the bathroom furniture in our proposed setting, it features a made-to-measure countertop and furniture made of 12mm-thick large-format White Nature XLIGHT MOON porcelain sheets, combined with the UNIQUE washbasin model and new SLIM bathtub by SYSTEMPOOL, both made of Krion, rounded off with tap fittings by Noken.

The outcome is a luminous, harmonious setting with a forward-looking design.
