“Gold Award” at NeoCon 2015 – top marks for Wilkhahn''s new office chair IN

Trimension®, patented synchronous adjustment kinematics, lies at the heart of the new IN chair. Leading experts consider it ground-breaking technology that stimulates the slightest of movements to improve the health and concentration of people sitting on the chair. When developing IN, Wilkhahn''s goal was to transform this movement concept into a simpler, more compact and lower-cost office chair and to allow a broader range of projects to reap its benefits.

As a result, the company''s engineers and designers came up with several sophisticated technological features that all complement one another perfectly. The swivel arms move separately from one another and are part of the 3D synchronous adjustment mechanism. They have a direct impact on a central spring where the resistance can be adjusted by turning a knob. A forward tilt can be activated, making a huge range of motion possible. The supporting seat and back component which is connected with the mechanism via “hip” and “knee” joints allows people sitting on it to maintain their centre of gravity. This high-tech part is made in one piece using cutting-edge two-component technology. And finally, superb support is provided by the backrest cover made of 3D Formstrick (form-fit knit). This is a technology used in developing sports shoes to incorporate various densities and strengths in the fabric.

This mix produces an incomparably dynamic and comfortable experience when sitting on the chair. The slightest shifts in weight are translated into bodyfriendly, three dimensional movements. The seat and back also follow the body like a second, supporting skin.
