An outdoor version of Chassis now available for spring

Chassis is the only chair worldwide with a frame based on the space-frame technology used in automotive manufacturing. This industrial process combines comfort, strength and durability with the precision and elegance of a stylish design. Designed by Stefan Diez, the chair now comes in a version that''s perfect for the warmer seasons outdoors.

Bad Münder.

To produce Chassis, a deep-drawing process creates a three-dimensional shape from sheet metal. The result is a very strong seat and back frame made in one piece. The four connecting components on the legs are also made in the same way. The components are then joined with a welding robot to form a complete chair frame. For the outdoor version extra corrosion protection is also applied to the metal parts to prevent rusting. A four-millimetre thick, one-

piece finely grained polypropylene seat and backrest membrane covers the frame. It''s also weatherproof, waterproof and not sensitive to ultra-violet light. The technology Chassis is based on and the combination of the frame and the shell add up to a very comfortable, robust and hard-wearing chair. Its low

weight of under five and a half kilos and shape make handling easy and practical. Up to four chairs can be stacked on top of one another.

Form and function on an equal footing

Chassis stands apart for its innovative manufacturing technology and the clarity of its design. Form and function fuse to create a piece of seamless furniture.

The soft, elegant and subtly organic shapes are immediately appealing. As a result, Chassis is an eyecatching and contemporary feature for outdoor areas in restaurants, cafés and company canteens. However, the chair doesn''t just excel in terms of design, comfort and handling, its eco footprint is also impressive. The shell is easy to exchange and the frame simple to repair and recycle.
