Winner of IF Design Award 2018 - mAx Folding Table

Wilkhahn’s mAx folding table’s excellent design and exceptional ease of use impressed the judges of the iF Design Awards 2018.

Wilkhahn’s new mAx folding table has just received an Iconic Award in the Innovative Interior category at the imm international furniture fair in Cologne. And the judging panel of the iF Design Awards has now given it an accolade too. The 63-strong panel of one of the world’s oldest independent design organisations, iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hanover, gave the folding table an iF Design Award in January 2018. The iF judges evaluated a total of around 6,400 submissions from 54 countries.

mAx was designed by Andreas Störiko and is impressive for its excellent design and exceptional ease of use. The folding table’s T-shaped base made of die-cast aluminium can be folded in or out in one easy step. The patented mechanism makes the stackable all-rounder very strong.

It’s the 98th time Wilkhahn has won this sought-after award. The north German company has virtually been a perennial prize winner for over 50 years.

In 2017, the Occo chairs (design: jehs+laub) and Metrik (design: whiteID) were presented with iF Design Awards. The first items of Wilkhahn furniture to win an iF Design Award were three chairs based on designs by the Bauhaus alumnus Georg Leowald in 1967. The iF Awards ceremony will take place in the BMW Welt in Munich on 9 March 2018.
