ACTiLED Lighting illuminates the Abolition of Slavery Memorial in Nantes

Shadow and light honoring memory.

In the underground space of the Abolition of Slavery Memorial in Nantes, ACTiLED Lighting solutions reveal the historic stone of the Quai de la Fosse. ACTiTube20A LED tubes with a fixed red light and ACTiLine1610 linear luminaires are discreetly integrated under and above the stone slabs.

Guiding visitors through the intentional dimness, this red light highlights the texture of the black stone, emphasizing the engraved inscriptions, maps, and texts on Human Rights.

Commissioned by Le Voyage à Nantes and installed by Eiffage Énergie Loire Océan, this lighting design maintains the solemn atmosphere of the site. Following a major flood, all lighting equipment was fully renewed in 2026.
