FAM Firmenzentrale Magdeburg
Futuristic curvature
Glass, silver cladding and a multitude of curves determine the futuristic appearance of the Magdeburg Förderanlagen und Baumaschinen GmbH (FAM) corporate head office, built at the company headquarters in Magdeburg, FAM’s corporate identity is reflected on many levels. The company’s new head office building in Magdeburg conveys the firm’s own values, and the architects at pbr AG used the creative resources of the FAM product range as a basis and reference for their design. The futuristic new building in the south of Magdeburg not only communicates quality and the power of innovation, it also makes an architectural statement in the field of industrial buildings. This modern structure featuring a large number of curves was conceived as an architectural counterpoint to the historical company villa.
Large-format, silver-grey ALUCOBOND® panels determine the façade design and, in conjunction with the building contours, create a futuristic image. Deliberately employing large format panels in conjunction with a curved geometry has simply and deftly created the modern appearance of the structure.
Ribbon windows structure and divide the new five-storey mullion-transom façade construction. Further reference is made to the corporate colour, which is featured in the blue window reveals and in the entrance area.
Attached to the foyer, a light-bathed atrium links all five storeys and creates a luminous ambience at the centre of the new building. A lift, designed and built by FAM, is housed within a steel structure, also in the corporate colour blue. The glass roof covering the whole building allows daylight to flood in from above and reach the ground floor, creating a bright atmosphere in the center of the new building.
