Pushing the boundaries with wood.

Ambivalent Design creates wooden bicycle - demonstration of skills and a proof of concept for future procjects.

This bike is inspired by popular beach cruisers. It has nothing to do with what Ambivalent Design manufacture mainly crafts - wooden washbasins. However this fun project has a lot to prove. One workshop can do a washbasin and a bicycle in one space. When customers are ofered with custom products their wishes are teaken seriously.

Bicycle was designed by Paweł Buczek - lead designer of Ambivalent Design. It was created with oak wood. Main frame is made with 6 pieces and each of rear fork elements were glue laminated from 10 layers of wood. To bond everything creators used epoxy resin and polyurethane glue. Elements such as head of frame and bottom bracket were made of steel. Cable for rear 7 gear shimano tranmission is hidden in copper chanel in frame. Front hub has a built-in dynamo. Main principle was to keep it clean. Nothing unnecessary.

It was tested and has driven more than 100km without any complaint.
