A new sofa every day

The modular upholstery system Curt perfect for private living spaces and in the contract sector with its high variability

With its flexible, convertible furniture, the based Berlin furniture label AMBIVALENZ offers its customers the freedom of not having to settle for one thing. This also applies to the new and extremely innovative sofa system Curt, which was created and co-designed with the German-Canadian designer Joa Herrenknecht. Curt can be easily reconfigured, expanded, scaled-down or changed in color at any time. Flexibility is an important factor for contemporary furniture design: Today, furniture that adapts to its users needs and makes everyday life easier through its adaptability is in demand.

Modern city nomads and design lovers will particularly appreciate the Curt sofa system. Curt is not only extremely easy to move houses with, but also inspires with its enormous design variety. Only one module form and the patent-pending connection system are needed to create almost infinite seating furniture configurations. The Curt module is a cuboid with a square base area, the height of which corresponds to half the side length. Each module is equipped with 16 hidden connecting loops that only come out when needed. The Curt strap: The unique connecting system is based on an adjustable strap with two hooks that can be hooked or unhooked quickly and easily. The result is a clever modular system with which everyone can construct their favorite furniture. A single module functions as a stool, footrest or side table. Armchairs, sofas, big seating areas, daybeds and lounging areas in all possible shapes and sizes are built from several modules.

The exceptionally flexible design principle is continued in the upholstery: the cover of each Curt module consists of two rectangles which are connected to each other in a U-shape by means of a continuous zipper. For the two parts different colors can be chosen and can be easily exchanged at any time. One black and one gray module are quickly transformed into two mixed black and gray modules. There are many different fabric qualities and colors are available. Thanks to the modular character and the smart "Mix & Match" principle for upholstery, millions of different curt variations can be created. Anyone who buys a Curt sofa gets more than just a sofa, because Curt can be redesigned to adjust to every need and look different every day.

With its impressive flexibility, Curt also scores points in the contract sector. Thanks to the freedom of design that Curt offers, architects and interior designers can use the modular sofa system to plan completely individual pieces of furniture that are precisely tailored to the respective project and the spatial conditions. Even hotel lobbies, showrooms, co-working places, offices, or restaurants require changeable furniture that can be converted and regrouped according to individual needs. The Curt cover, which can be easily removed, replaced and cleaned as required, is another great advantage in the commercial sector where furniture is used in a demanding way.

Curt is the first upholstered furniture system from AMBIVALENZ, and until now the Berlin label has been known primarily for the space-saving folding furniture of its Fläpps system. Fläpps already enjoys great popularity among planners, architects, and design lovers. The clever, folding tables, chairs, desks, shelves, and wardrobes are used in hotels, hospitals, serviced apartments, micro-living projects and of course in private homes. Together, Fläpps and Curt form the perfect team for the demanding contract sector and stylish furnished homes.
