Love Your Pets? Offer Aesthetics

There is something innately unaesthetic about living with pets.

While the animals themselves can be quite beautiful, i.e. your Siamese cat contrasting with the patterned tiles on your kitchen floor or the light reflecting off the white of your Jack Russell’s fur in a richly carpeted room, the fundamental problem comes down to whether they are allowed on your nice furniture or not, and if not, what solutions can you provide for them instead? Is it worse to have your designer couch covered in fur, or to have an eyesore of a dog or cat bed ruining the design of the whole room?

Marco Baxadonne has come up with a unique solution to this dilemma. Winner of the Comfort & Design-ADI Prize in 2006, Baxadonne has designed Geppo, a stool carved out of a single block of cedar, and he has also created Geppo Pet, a version for our four-legged friends.

Geppo stands out with its warm, curved lines and open space underneath for storage (books, small objects, etc.). The Geppo Pet is slightly larger and in the space underneath includes a cushion made of synthetic leather, perfect for cats or small dogs. Both the Geppo and Geppo Pet are made in Italy from hand-finished cedar with no added treatments and as such will wear with time according to the conditions they are kept in. The stools are available in four different cedar finishes (raw, contract, sanded and volcano) and the synthetic leather cushion comes in ten different colors. Perfect for the design-conscious pet owner.
